The Strange Cucumber That Keeps Growing for 40 Years
It was in 1960, about 40 years ago. Taking a very little cucumber, Old Zhao returned to his working unit in northeast China from his native place, Shandong Province, China. After two years, Old Zhao discovered suddenly that the cucumber had grown larger. After this, the little cucumber grew larger and larger year by year. When the little cucumber’s length exceeded the height of the bottle, it bent over to grow continuously. When Old Zhao has a drink, whatever the liquors, he saves always a bit and pours it into the bottle. Being in a bottle, the
The 2000-year-old Wild Male and Female Mountain Ginsengs
In April 2001, a 418 g. ginseng worth RMB 3.18 million was exhibited in the largest drugstore in southwest China. After appraising, professor Li, a famous expert on ginseng and pilose antler from Beijing said that it was the largest ginseng found so far in China and its growing age was over 200 years at least.
On August 5, 2007, Lin Xiumin, a retired woman doctor who lives in Taocun Town, Qixia City, Yantai, Shandong Province of China found and unearthed a wild ginseng in Xianrengu Valley of the North Mountain of Guolukuang Village in the City.It is a female one. Its straw is more than 1 m. in height. The ginseng had many stems and buds, and many blue-purple small flowers on its stems were in blossom. It was 3.8 kg in weight when it was unearthed. It has more than 20 heads of ginseng. According to the saying that female ginseng usually reproudeces one young ginseng every 100 years, the age of the ginseng was 2000 years at least.
Later, Lin Xiumin found and unearthed a male wild ginseng under a tree less than 2 m. from that female ginseng according to the law of nature that the wild ginseng usually doesn’t grow alone.
“It is undoubtedly a wild mountain ginseng. This is because I ate the meat that came off the ginseng when I sloughed its bark. I don’t feel sleepy though I had not a good sleep for 4 days.” Lin Xiumin said. “An entrepreneur who lives in Fushanqu District of Qixia City, Shandong Province of China hoped to buy the ginseng at a high price of RMB 20 million.”
